What is the Private Pilot License (PPL) ?

The Private Pilot License (PPL) is a pilot license issued by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India which permits a person to act as a pilot of an aircraft for non- remunerative purposes. The Private pilot license is recommended for persons who are passionate about flying and have access to personal aircraft as well for persons interested in hobby flying only.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Age: Minimum 18 Years
  • Education level: 10 + 2 with Physics and Mathematics
  • Medical fitness: Class II and Class I Certificate
  • English proficiency: ICAO level 4 – Operational level of Aviation English

The Aviation Online Ground Classes Advantage:

Ground classes are the basic foundation of the private pilot license course. The student shall gain the crucial knowledge required for commencing flying training required for obtaining the private pilot license. The study material prepared by us is as per the syllabus prescribed by the DGCA.

The following subjects are taught in the Theory Classes:
  • Air Navigation & Radio Aids
  • Aviation Meteorology
  • Air Regulation
  • Aircraft & Engines
  • Technical General & specific (concerned to particular aircraft and its related system)
  • Radio Telephony Regulations - Radio Telephony Test is conducted by WPC (Wireless Planning Coordination Wing) on regular basis to obtain FRTOL (Flight Radio Telephony Operators License).

Although the course subjects are similar to that of the CPL course, the course curriculum is less detailed as these subjects are covered in more depth as part of the CPL course. The entire course is delivered online, thus enabling the students to complete the basic requirements of the Private Pilot License from the comfort of their home and at their own timings before commencing actual flying training.

Examination:

  • DGCA conducts the written exams of Ground subjects as per their published schedule. Kindly refer to the DGCA exam page for further details.
  • The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) conducts the test for Radio Telephony License as per their published schedule.
